Ana Yam, born in San Francisco, California, started piano at the age of 9 under Larisa Kanevski. Ana has won numerous state, regional, and international piano competitions, and has consecutively been named winner of the IMTA, MTNA, and Terrace Hill competitions. In 2017, she won first prize in the Lee University International Piano Competition and a year later, the Steinway Young Artist Competition as “Steinway’s Young Artist”. Ana was a recipient of the Chopin Foundation Scholarship Program and was named Grand Champion of the Bill Riley Talent Search at the 2018 Iowa State Fair. In addition to solo competitions, Ana has won several concerto competitions including those at the Fort Dodge Symphony, Waterloo-Cedar Falls (WCF) Symphony, and Central Iowa Symphony (CIS). A junior attending Ames High School, Ana has  performed many works in her piano trio group and is involved in collaborative music. Currently, Ana studies piano with Dr. Suzanne Torkelson, collaborative music with Jodi Goble, and organ with Dr. Mariam Zach.
