John Thomas Morris, 18, graduated from the Alabama School of Fine Arts in 2020 and will attend Oberlin College and Conservatory this fall, where he will study with Alvin Chow. John has achieved high honors in many competitions, including second place in both the Lois Pickard Scholarship Competition and the Alabama Federation of Music Clubs Junior Scholarship Competition. He also placed third in the Music Teachers National Association State Competition. John enjoys music theory, plays the cello and composes music. In his final year at ASFA he performed the cello part in a string trio of his own composition.
