Brian Li, 12, started piano lessons at age 6 and is currently studying with Sasha Starcevich in Bellevue, Washington. In 2018, Brian made his orchestral debut in Perugia, Italy, with the Virtuosi Brunensis Orchestra. He has also performed with the Florence Symphony Orchestra in Italy. Brian was a scholarship and first-prize winner at the Crescendo International Competition, first prize winner at the Pacific International Youth Music Festival and was the first prize winner at the Canadian Music Competition in 2019. He has been awarded the Angela Barbour Scholarship, the Mrs. Helena Li Concerto Medallion, Katherine Chan and Marie Chan Medallion, the Alex Lim Studio Medallion and the Charlton and Helen Young Scholarship at the Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festival. Brian was also chosen to represent the Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festival in the Junior B Piano category at the 2018 Performing Arts Provincial Festival held in Victoria, B.C. When Brian is not playing the piano, he enjoys reading, drawing, and playing the violin and recorder. His favorite sport is hockey.
