Kali Bate, a 10th grader at Cary Academy, began playing the violin at the age of 4 and is a student of Ara Gregorian. She made her solo debut with the North Carolina Symphony in 2019 and in 2020 she won the Chapel Hill Philharmonia Young Artist Concerto Competition as well as the Junior Division of the Ronald Sachs International Music Competition. Kali has performed in master classes and lessons for many renowned musicians including Ida Kavafian, Herbert Greenberg, Victor Danchenko, Dmitri Berlinksy, Catherine Cho and Joseph Lin. She has been invited to attend the Bowdoin International Music Festival (2019), Music@Menlo Young Performers Program (2018-2021), ENCORE Chamber Music Summer Academy (2020) and the Four Seasons Summer Chamber Music Institute. In addition to playing her violin, Kali enjoys reading, skiing and traveling.
