Joe McDonald, sixteen years old from Watertown, Massachusetts, studies with Professor Yuri Mazurkevich of Boston University. Joe won first prize in the Dr. Carol Vasconcellos Youth Concerto Competition for the Brockton Symphony Orchestra in 2019. He also won first prize in the Waltham Philharmonic Concerto Competition in 2018, first prize in the Worcester Schubertiade Competition in 2017, the Massachusetts state winner in the MTNA Junior Competition in 2017, second prize at the New England Philharmonic Young Artist Competition in 2016, and first prize in the New England Conservatory Preparatory Concerto Competition in 2015. He has performed with the New England Conservatory Junior Repertoire Orchestra and with the Waltham Philharmonic Orchestra. Joe has been active in the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra since age eight and attended the Tanglewood Institute.
