Elena Ariza is a 22 year old from Cupertino, California. She is currently pursuing her masters in cello performance at The Juilliard School, where she studies with Astrid Schween. Elena previously attended Columbia University where she majored in computer science. She was featured on NPR’s From the Top as a soloist, and won numerous competitions including the Music Teachers National Association’s California State Competition and the Mondavi Young Artists Competition. She appeared in masterclasses led by Frans Helmerson, David Finckel, Ronald Leonard, Colin Carr, Paul Katz, Robert deMaine, and Bonnie Hampton, and attended the Aspen Music Festival, Music@Menlo Chamber Music Festival and Institute, the Yellow Barn Chamber Music Festival and School, and the Tanglewood Music Center. In her spare time, she enjoys paper crafting and playing chamber music with her violinist brother and her mother, a pianist.
