David Caplan is a 20-year-old cellist from Chicago, Illinois, and is currently studying cello performance with Daniel McDonough at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. As the winner of the 2016 Birch Creek Burton Concerto Competition, he made his orchestral debut with the Birch Creek Symphony performing Dvorak’s Cello Concerto. In 2017, he appeared as a soloist and chamber musician on NPR’s From the Top as a Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist in Longview, Texas, and Reno, Nevada. He attended the Aspen Music Festival and School and the Taos School of Music.
